Cowling

< 1.25 inch metal strip, for skybolt fasteners.  3.5 inch spacing, except the lower corners,( in order to get the spacing even).

Two lolli-pop sticks, from the spinner >

< Skybolt fasteners for the top cowling, and the standard piano hinge for the lower cowling.

Over lap; with the bottom cowling in place, I had to cut the front corners back.>

< Cowlings in place, note the red line (the amount of overlap, on the cowlings that had to be trimmed away).

Instead of an overlap, I now have a butt seam >

< Just checking the overall fit.

Clamping the aluminum strip to the cowling (ready for drilling); I think I used 0.063 thick strips.>

< Used one inch rivet spacing to attach the aluminum strip and piano hinge to the bottom cowling.

I'll put a "Z" in the piano hinge wire, and hook it under the 'L' bracket, so it can't work up.

< The cowling is close to the engine on the left side.  The rear baffle, is only about 1/8th of an inch from the cowling. I'll probably cut the piece off, and put a 90 degree angle on the inside of the baffling.

Lower bracket, the drawing shows the bracket on the under side of the engine mount, but I found it fits better (so far) on the upper side >

< Filling (or trying to) all the pin holes in the cowling.
